Overview
Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level
The Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level is a subject-based qualification jointly examined by the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB), and the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE). The GCE Advanced Level (GCE A Levels) is a qualifying credential for admission to universities in the United Kingdom and numerous other global destinations. The GCE A-Level examination is recognized internationally by universities as an entrance examination. It is an annual examination offered to Singapore Junior College students and private candidates who have met the eligibility criteria. Established in 1975, the GCE A-Level examination is closely aligned with the Singapore school curriculum designed by the MOE.
Program Introduction
Victoria World Academy designed the program Preparatory Course for Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level to prepare students for the A-Level examinations and provide them with the knowledge and skillset necessary to pursue higher education. This preparatory course delves deeply into a diverse array of GCE A-Level subjects, offering a multifaceted curriculum meticulously aligned with the rigorous standards of the Cambridge GCE A-Level in Singapore.
Objective
The objective of this Preparatory Course for Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level is to help students have a comprehensive understanding and overview of GCE A-Level academic subjects and get complete preparation for their university entrance examinations. Moreover, the preparatory course strongly emphasizes honing critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and analytical skills, ensuring that students are well-prepared to achieve outstanding GCE A-Level results and setting a solid foundation for their future academic endeavors. The VWA GCE A-Level preparatory course empowers students with the academic prowess and intellectual understanding required to excel in the GCE A-Level examination and confidently embark on their higher education pursuits.
Course Duration and Commencement Period
Full Time Students
The course duration of Singapore Cambridge GCE-A level is 24 months. GCE-A level classes will be 5 days a week, 6 hours a day.
Course Admission Requirements
- Age requirement: Above 15 years old
- Academic requirement: Must have obtained at least a pass in Singapore-Cambridge GCE O level exam or other Grade 10 or equivalent education.
Remarks: The grade 10 or equivalent education includes but is not limited to:
- IB MYP Grade 10
- Year 1 of High School Programme in China
- Cambridge International IGCSE
- Language requirement: Must have obtained at least a pass at Middle School English language test in home country, IELTs overall band score of 5.0 and above or equivalent English language qualification; or else an admission test set by VWA will be administered.
Remarks: The equivalent English language qualification includes but is not limited to:
- TOFEL 35/120
- Duolingo 75/160
- Admission test set by VWA 20/50
- Cambridge International IGCSE English as Second Language pass
- Singapore-Cambridge GCE O level English pass
Mode of Delivery
VWA’s Singapore Cambridge GCE-A Level courses focus on small class teaching, which can provide all students with more comprehensive GCE-A Level knowledge guidance.

Note: GCE A-Level courses are conducted according to the latest syllabi specified by the Ministry of Education in Singapore.
Mode of Assessment
Internal Assessment
Victoria World Academy, each year, there will be a total of 4 internal assessments about the Singapore GCE-A Level knowledge, one at the end of each term.
*If the students take the Singapore-Cambridge GCE-A Level Exam during the term, their end-of-term examination can be exempted.
The weighting and grading of the internal assessment will follow the VWA GPA system.
External Assessment
Students will take the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level Examinations after completing the VWA program. Singapore GCE A-Level Exam and Assessment Board will post the annual examination schedule on its website.

GCE-A Level Result Release Date:
For internal assessment, results are released within one (1) month from the last exam date.
For external assessment, results are released as determined by the Singapore Examination and Assessment Board.
Awarding Criteria
The school shall award the Certificate of Completion with Pass when the student has met the following requirements:
- obtain an overall GPA of 1.0 or above;
- met all financial and administrative obligations to the College;
- met at least 90% attendance rate
On top of meeting all the requirements:
- If the student has obtained an overall GPA of 2.0 (inclusive) to 3.0 (exclusive), the student will be awarded the Certificate of Completion with Merit
- If the student has obtained an overall GPA of 3.0 (inclusive) to 4.0 (exclusive), the student will be awarded the Certificate of Completion with Distinction
- If the student has obtained an overall GPA of 4.0 (inclusive) to 5.0 (inclusive), the student will be awarded the Certificate of Completion with Highest Distinction
Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level Certificate will be awarded by Ministry of Education of Singapore and Cambridge Assessment International Education to successful candidates of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level Examinations.

The three (3) types of fee chargeable by Victoria World Academy are:

A one-time application fee is non-refundable.

The Committee for Private Education (CPE) has regulatory provisions and requirements to protect course fees that are payable by students who are enrolled in a private education institution (PEI).
Victoria World Academy subscribes to these regulatory provisions and requirements in its collection of fees from full-time students.
